GSOC
The Google Summer of Code, often abbreviated to GSoC, is an international annual program in which Google awards stipends to students who successfully complete a free and open-source software coding project during the summer. The program is open to university students aged 18 or over. It was first held from May to August 2005,[1]. The amount of the stipend depends on the purchasing power parity of the country where the student's university is located.[2] Project ideas are listed by host organizations involved in open-source software development, though students can also propose their own project ideas.

Who can apply for gsoc ? is there any fee ? what background do is needed for applying for gsoc ?Related Gsoc internship plan for commerce students? .......
So in this article I am going to tell all about gsoc who can apply, what are the requirements and everything. As I stated earlier that there are basically two requirement you must be 18yrs old and must be a college student, and beside that you must have any skills in coding background means you must know any computer language
like c, c++, java, HTML , android... and etc. You must know data structure and algorithm, and must know how to use GitHub. If you are in college and wondering which year is best for applying for GSOC in my opinion 2nd year is the best, you may apply in your 1st year but many student don't know all about coding, developers so in my opinion give it your 1st year in learning coding and then apply from 2nd year but if you already know coding and had done any project you may apply from 1st year. You don't need a IT or CS background in order to participate in GSOC. If you are from commerce and want to take part in GSOC, you can apply but, you must have above stated skills. In order to apply for GSOC, you don't need to pay any fee as far as I know. You will get stipend from google in terms of your project. Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on bringing more student developers into open source software development. Students work on a three month programming project with an open source organization during their break from university. And I think this program or intern is only for developers.
